Privacy policy

SlimBee aims to collect the minimum data needed to run a static site safely, fix errors, and respond to legitimate requests.

Summary

This policy explains what personal data SlimBee may process when you browse the site, when you email us, and when routine technical logs are created by hosting infrastructure. SlimBee is designed as a lightweight informational site. We do not run a patient record system, we do not sell prescriptions, and we do not need to know your medical history to show you a page.

Data we may collect

Like most websites, servers and security tools can create technical logs that might include IP addresses, user agent strings, timestamps, and requested URLs. If you email SlimBee, we process your address, message content, and any attachments you choose to send. If you use a web form in future versions of the site, we would process the fields you submit. If we introduce optional newsletters, we would collect only what is necessary to deliver them and document consent where required.

Legal bases under UK GDPR

Where we process personal data, we rely on appropriate lawful bases such as legitimate interests in operating a secure site, responding to correspondence, maintaining accurate public information, and defending legal claims. Where consent is required for optional marketing, we will request it clearly and separately. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.

Cookies and similar technologies

If we use strictly necessary cookies for security or load balancing, they will not require consent under UK rules. If we use analytics or advertising cookies in future, we will provide a clear banner, granular choices, and documentation of purposes and retention. You can control cookies through your browser settings, understanding that some features may not work if you block certain categories.

Retention

Technical logs are typically retained only as long as needed for security investigations, capacity planning, or legal obligations. Email correspondence may be retained for a reasonable period to handle follow-up questions, demonstrate editorial diligence, or meet regulatory expectations for traceability of corrections. When retention periods end, we delete or anonymise data where feasible.

International transfers

If any processor stores data outside the United Kingdom, we expect appropriate safeguards such as UK-approved standard contractual clauses or adequacy regulations. We will list major processors in an annex when we formalise vendor relationships for production hosting.

Your rights

Subject to exemptions, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office. We will verify requests to prevent impersonation. If you ask us to delete correspondence that includes a correction record we need to keep for integrity reasons, we may retain a minimal redacted stub noting that a request was received.

Children

SlimBee is intended for adults researching weight-management options. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data to us, contact us so we can delete it promptly where the law allows.

Updates

We will update this policy when our processing changes materially. The effective date will be shown at the top of the policy page when we add that field in the site template. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy where such acceptance is lawful and proportionate.

Automated decision-making

SlimBee does not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you based solely on automated processing. If that ever changes, we will update this policy, explain logic and significance, and provide meaningful human contact where required.

Data minimisation examples

When you report a broken link, we do not need your NHS number, prescription list, or payment card details. When you suggest a topic, we do not need your weight history. If you volunteer sensitive health information in email, we recommend redacting details you do not want stored, because email retention may be necessary for continuity of a correction investigation.

Processor transparency

As the site matures, we will publish a short list of infrastructure providers (for example hosting, DNS, email delivery) with links to their privacy documentation. Until then, assume routine technical providers may process transient logs under their own terms, configured to the minimum needed for reliability and abuse prevention.
